Color Matching

  • Develops Color Formulas that Meet Customer Specifications
  • Determine & Set Color Standard based on Color Match Request
  • Interpret Color Curves and formulate based on conclusions

Color Quality Control

  • Responsible for tracking color-related adjustments
  • Responsible for troubleshooting processing issues
  • Responsible for troubleshooting off-color situations
  • Revises formulations for color accuracy and processing
  • Writes and revises specifications as needed
  • Investigate color related complaints


  • Prepares Technical Data Sheets for color formulations end items
  • Writes SOPS as needed
  • Assists with Training of other Technicians

Education and/or Work Experience Requirements:

  • Pass Farnsworth / Munsell 100 hue test (Score =/< 20)
  • Be capable of performing all necessary math calculations
  • Possess good verbal and written communication skills and be able to read and understand detailed instructions
  • Be able to perform multiple tasks with accuracy.
  • Be capable of following oral instructions.
  • Hold a High School Diploma, G.E.D. and/or related job experience.
  • Meet “A” level requirements.
  • Demonstrate competency with computer software – Ex: Microsoft “Word” and “Excel”


Color Matching Skills: 

  • Knowledgeable in Regulatory status of pigments (FDA, CONEG, NHM, Lead, Cadmium etc.)
  • Knowledgeable in pigment properties (Light stability, heat stability, suitability for resin system etc.)
  • Capable of generating color formulations using I-color Software
  • Can verify accuracy of formulations
  • Can review Color Match Request for accuracy and thoroughness before accepting into Lab workflow
