Join Teknor Apex’s Information Technology team and gain hands-on experience working with artificial intelligence in a real-world enterprise environment. As an AI Engineer Co-op, you’ll support the development, testing, and continuous improvement of internal AI applications while learning how AI solutions move from business needs to production tools. You’ll work across several of our AI platforms and applications, gaining exposure to prompt development and evaluation, application testing, documentation, and requirements gathering. This internship is an opportunity to apply your technical skills while learning how enterprise AI applications are developed, evaluated, implemented, and governed within a global manufacturing organization.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Support prompt development, testing, and evaluation for internal AI applications and use cases.
• Assist with testing AI applications to evaluate functionality, accuracy, consistency, and overall user experience.
• Document testing results, application functionality, processes, and identified opportunities for improvement.
• Support the intake and evaluation of new AI use cases from teams across the organization.
• Assist with gathering and documenting business and technical requirements for AI projects.
• Work with members of the IT team to understand how AI solutions are developed, tested, deployed, and maintained in an enterprise environment.
• Gain exposure to multiple production AI tools and applications used across Teknor Apex.
• Assist with evaluating AI outputs and identifying opportunities to improve prompts, workflows, and application performance.
• Collaborate with technical and business teams to understand user needs and translate them into clear requirements.
• Participate in team meetings, project discussions, and other learning opportunities throughout the internship.
• Complete other AI, data, and technology-related projects as assigned.

Qualifications

• Currently pursuing a bachelor’s or master’s degree in Computer Science, Data Science, Software Engineering, or a related technical field.
• Proficiency in Python through coursework, projects, internships, or other hands-on experience.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Interest in artificial intelligence, machine learning, large language models, and emerging technologies.
• Ability to learn new technologies and technical concepts quickly.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to work collaboratively with both technical and non-technical team members.
• Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
• Coursework, research, or personal projects involving large language models (LLMs), machine learning, or generative AI is a plus.

Physical Requirements

• Ability to safely and successfully perform the essential job functions consistent with the ADA, FMLA and other federal, state and local standards, including meeting qualitative and/or quantitative productivity standards.
• Ability to maintain regular, punctual attendance consistent with the ADA, FMLA and other federal, state and local standards.
• Must be able to lift and carry up to 15 lbs.
• Must be able to talk, listen and speak clearly on telephone.
