Overview

As an EHS Intern you will learn best practices in Job Safety Analysis/Job Hazard Analysis procedures, how to develop, catalogue, prioritize and reduce risks. In addition to how to identify and implement opportunities for reduction in water usage and waste to assist In sustainability. A Job Hazard Hazard Analysis will be conducted for all production jobs. Duties include:

  • Educate and motivate hourly plant employees to achieve safety goals
  • Help to investigate and analyze work related incidents, identify root causes, and help develop/implement approved safety solutions
  • Behavior Based Safety Project – Develop training materials for implementation / improvement of a Behavior Based Safety program
  • Students will be working in a collaborative, cross‐functional, geographically diverse team
  • Assist with conducting hazard assessments for processes and equipment
  • Inspect and evaluate workplace environments, equipment, and practices for regulatory compliance
  • Assist in the design and implementation of workplace processes including engineering controls and procedures that help protect workers from potentially hazardous work conditions
  • Under close supervision, provide training and feedback to improve overall knowledge of EHS activities
  • Perform administrative recordkeeping functions
  • Potential projects may include – Lockout / Tagout improvements, Targeted Risk Approach Team Member, water / waste reduction team member.

Qualifications

  • Current Junior or Senior College Student majoring in Environmental, Occupation Safety or Science / Technical Field
  • Must have excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office.
  • Must be able to work 40 hours each week. Monday – Friday, 8 hours daily onsite. 

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to safely and successfully perform the essential job functions consistent with the ADA, FMLA and other federal, state and local standards, including meeting qualitative and/or quantitative productivity standards.
  • Ability to maintain regular, punctual attendance consistent with the ADA, FMLA and other federal, state and local standards
  • Must be able to lift and carry up to 15 lbs.
  • Ability to perform duties under specific time requirements
  • Ability to adapt to changing duties and responsibilities
  • Must be able to talk, listen and speak clearly on telephone
