Overview

When Alfred Fain founded a small Rhode Island tire store in 1924, at the time no one could have predicted how Teknor Apex would become an international custom compounder sought out by companies around the world. After a nearly hundred-year journey that’s carried us through acquisitions and expansion, we now have nine U.S. locations, as well as operations in Belgium, Singapore, Germany, and China.

As an Intern, you will support the Maintenance and Engineering team in a variety of operational and project-based activities within the plant.

Project Overview:

• Review plant equipment and ensure all assets are accurately entered into the CMMS (Computerized Maintenance Management System).
• Evaluate preventive maintenance (PM) programs for completeness; create or update PMs as needed.
• Collect and organize equipment data, including manuals, drawings, photos, and nameplate information.
• Assist with equipment labeling and identification.
• Maintain housekeeping standards and support a 6S work environment.
• Follow all safety policies and procedures to promote a safe workplace.

Education and/or Work Experience Requirements:

• Current junior or senior pursuing a degree in Engineering.
• Ability to work onsite in Brownsville, Tennessee.
• Availability to work full-time (40 hours per week; Monday–Friday, 8 hours per day).
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office 365.
• Basic experience using mobile devices (e.g., tablet or smartphone camera).
• Ability to work effectively in a team environment.
• Self-motivated with strong organizational skills and the ability to complete tasks thoroughly and on time.

Physical Requirements:

• Ability to safely and successfully perform the essential job functions consistent with the ADA, FMLA and other federal, state and local standards, including meeting qualitative and/or quantitative productivity standards.
• Ability to maintain regular, punctual attendance consistent with the ADA, FMLA and other federal, state and local standards
• Must be able to wear required safety equipment.
